About Extreme Windsurfing

Being part of Extreme Windsurfing over the years has been quite an adventure! It started one day in October 1993 with Linda Hoedecker, and George Menard (past partners), under the auspices of “Sonny” Bagraduni the then owner of the hotel on site. (Now a Comfort Inn and Suites) We started as a Windsurfing & kayaking store. We have grown to be the oldest Kitesurfing shop in new Jersey. Today we are proud to say that we are the FIRST Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) shop in the Mid Atlantic area. We are as STOKED today with Windsurfing, Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) and Kitesurfing as we were when first started.

Extreme Windsurfing’s first focus is on the biggest (300,000 acres of open water) thing that set us apart from other shops. This is our GREAT site here on LAKES BAY (Atlantic City, NJ). The SUPER Consistent thermal winds (TOP 10 MOST CONSISTENTLY WINDY SITES IN THE USA …iWindsurf data published in Windsurfing mag May, 2001) shallow waters with practically no current, free of boat traffic and mostly weed less. Add the easy access, and a comfortable beach and deck makes for a GREAT location for Windsurfing, and Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP). Kitesurfing is done from a different site (PT Point) on Lakes Bay.

There are 2 basic premises we wanted to operate the store under. (THEY ARE STILL THE SAME TODAY)

#1 Lessons are our FIRST PRIORITY (not some after thought) they will only be taught by Certified, Professional, instructors, WHO ARE COMMITTED TO THAT SPORT!

#2 “Eliminate the Cool Factor” Extreme Windsurfing personnel are extremely competent at the sports we do and sell. Before we opened the shop Linda, George & I had plenty of experiences with “Bro” type sales people “pushing” a cool product on us, telling us how “good” they are. And how this product would make us “as good as they are” I/We vowed that would not happen at Extreme Windsurfing. To prevent this I listen to what a person wants this product to do, and in what conditions (in most cases a lesson is a better solution). I very carefully recommend the right product for them in real world conditions. Not the Coolest, or the one they see in the every magazine ad (hyped) or even the one that is in stock. I’m THRILLED with almost 100% repeat customers. These windsurfers, stand up paddle surfers refer lots of their interested friends to us for product and services we have provided them. That is the real proof of a good shop…Thank You!

Extreme Windsurfing is thriving in the 21st century. This means we are involved in E-commerce, and we continue to follow our basic premise of giving our customers the right equipment for them. While at the same time we give to all our customers (online as well as in store customers) the lowest prices on the web. We don’t “meet” pricing on everything we sell. We BEAT all other prices. That simple!

We only carry TOP Brands. We do not carry Cheap, Knock Off, “Private Label” junk.
** Extreme Windsurfing does have price point products but they MUST meet (and some times exceed) the performance, durability and support of top brands.**
The reason is simple we can’t/won’t “hide” from our customers, because we are on the beach our core customers use these products at. If our recommended products don’t perform & hold up or are not supported our customers will tell us, and know we will make it right FAST! So we research, test and use all our experience to make sure EVERY customer is happy with EVERTHING they get from us.

Extreme Windsurfing supports a dynamic community of windsurfing, Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) and kitesurfing. We do this first through our support of local non profit organizations NJWWA, ESA, & LBRA as well as a full event schedule every year. Most importantly Extreme Windsurfing maintains and upgrades our site here on Lakes bay to ensure this great site is open to the public.
